Our First Art History/Ceramics Mergence Class!
Everyone is so fascinated by our use of Lake Erie clay! Understanding the regional, local and indigenous pottery traditions is SO important for building people's connection to the art and practice of ceramics.
In this introductory class, historian and ceramics artist, Corin Sweeny Deinhart, Ph.D. will give an overview of indigenous ceramics, introduce the "Art Pottery" industry which Ohio led, and show how contemporary ceramic artists keep traditions alive and forge strong ties to the region through their art.
We will follow up with making two Ohio projects, made with Ohio Lake Erie clay!
